Whist every effort is made to reduce our impact on the environment, there are inevitably areas in which improvements can be made.
We are committed to :
Preventing pollution and to reducing waste.
Minimising the amount of energy consumed and carbon dioxide produced.
Minimising the use of freshwater across all activities to save time and money on purifying water and reduce pressure on water abstractions site, and consequently habitat destruction.
And we do this by:

  • Recycling: We recycle glass, paper, cans, plastic, clothing and compost green waste.  In our literature we encourage visitors to recycle.  We use recycled office paper, toilet paper and black bin bags.
  • Minimal use of Chemicals: We use completely biodegradable cleaning products, and avoid strong perfume.
  • Avoiding Packaging and Food Miles: We grow our own organic vegetables.  We purchase food in bulk and we source local food and buy from local farmers.
  • Minimizing use of Energy: We encourage our visitors to turn off radiators and lights when not in the room, to stay for longer (reducing washing), and to be thoughtful in their use of linen and towels.  They are asked to use water sparingly.  Our farmhouse has been fully insulated in the roof, walls and in the upstairs floors in order to reduce heat loss.  We use our own wood to heat hot water and communal areas – which means we are able to use less oil.

We promote a sense of responsibility for the environment to our staff and our guests.
We are committed to comply with all relevant environmental legislation.
The policy is updated annually.  It is given to all staff, and is available upon request to all interested parties.
